Prospectus

TAC 2023 Small Sizes, Big Ideas Show

Submissions may include paintings, drawings, prints, photography, and reasonable three-dimensional work. The maximum frame size for flat work is 16 inches on the longest side. Three-dimensional work may not be bigger than 16 inches in any dimension. Artists are invited to submit digital images (.JPG) of up to three original works of art. All submissions must be made through the online application. The show will be promoted on the Toledo Artists' Club website and Facebook page, to the public, and area art organizations.


All artwork must be original, completed within the last four years, and not produced in a class or workshop. Artwork that received an award in any previous exhibition at the Toledo Artists’ Club

can be submitted but it is not eligible for an award. All accepted entries must remain on display until January 24, 2024.


The Club retains the right to reject any entry it considers inappropriate or inappropriately framed. Drop off accepted entries at Toledo Artists’ Club, at the date and time given below. All flat work entries to be displayed in the gallery must be suitably framed except for gallery-wrapped canvases. All flat work entries (except for oil paintings and acrylic paintings) must be presented with clear acrylic glazing. Soft pastels may be glazed with clear glass. All flat work entries must be ready to hang. Artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit. Saw-tooth hangers are not acceptable. Back labels will be provided to the artists for the accepted works. Each submitted piece must have a label attached to the back of it.


Important Dates

  • Friday, September 22, 2023: Call for entries. The call for entries is closed.
  • Friday, October 6, and Wednesday, October 11, 2023: Help session at TAC to enter this show.
    1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Monday October 16, 2023: Deadline to submit.
  • Wednesday, October 25, 2023: Notification of accepted artwork.
  • Tuesday, November 28, 2023, OR Wednesday, November 29, 2023, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.:
  • Deliver artwork to Toledo Artists’ Club.
  • Friday, December 1, 2023: Exhibit opens.
  • Wednesday, January 24, 2024: Exhibit closes.
  • Thursday, January 25, 2024, OR Friday, January 26, 2024, 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.: Pick up artwork from Toledo Artists’ Club. If a person other than the artist is picking up the work, they must have the artist's written permission.


Eligibility and Entry Fee
Toledo Artists’ Club (TAC) members: $35.00 for one, two, or three pieces.
Non-members: $40.00 for one, two, or three pieces.


The fee is paid when submitting entries.

  • Having the following information and images ready before completing the application will make the process faster and more efficient.

  • Artwork title, media, materials, dimensions (Important: dimensions stated MUST be
    the framed size.)
  • Retail price
  • Images of artwork
  • Complete the application below.
  • The contact information must be accurate; the email address and phone number provided will be used to contact you regarding your submission.

    Image files should be in high-quality JPEG format, not exceeding 2MB in size, and 1,920 pixels on the longest side.

  • Each uploaded file name must contain your first initial, last name, the title of the work, and medium. Separate all initials and words with an underscore; do not use a space.

  • Please follow the file naming example carefully

PLEASE NOTE that entries without properly sized and labeled images may be disqualified until they meet the image submission requirements.

Release of Liability
The artist should always insure their work. The Gallery Committee will professionally handle the artwork. The Toledo Artists' Club is not responsible for any loss or damage to the artwork at any time during the duration of this exhibit.

 

Awards

The juror chosen by the Toledo Artists’ Club Board Members will select these awards:

  • Best of Show: $100.00
  • First Place: $75.00
  • Second Place: $ 50.00
  • Third Place: $25.00
  • Four Honorable Mention Certificates.
  • One People's Choice Award

The People's Choice Award is selected by visitors to Toledo Artists’ Club during the exhibit by voting
for their favorite work. The artist whose work receives the most votes will receive the People's Choice Award. The winning artwork and recognition will be exhibited at the Toledo Artists' Club
until January 24, 2022.

The winner will be notified by email and will be announced in the
February 2024 Sketchpad.


Artwork sales information

You may set a price and mark your artwork for sale or mark it not-for-sale (NFS). Leave the figures $00.00 in the price field on the application if you don't wish to sell a piece. The contact information of any buyer will be provided to the artist shortly after the close of the exhibit. The artist is responsible for arranging the delivery to the purchaser of any work sold. For all work that is sold, the sale price minus
a commission (25%) to Toledo Artists’ Club will be remitted to the artist within 30 days of the end
of the show.
