Workshop Structure
In this two-day workshop, students will learn how to break away from coloring-in painting style and start painting watercolor with confident brush strokes and expressive edge qualities for a more spontaneous and impressionistic appearance. Strong emphasis will be placed on the importance of planning with monochromatic studies, understanding the wetness ratio of paper and paintbrush, the economy of brushstrokes as well as the principles of design. In addition, the effective use of eloquent calligraphy will be discussed. This workshop is designed to help students gain insight into discovering the true quality of watercolor so that he/she can create paintings with maximum visual and emotional impact. Yuki’s highly-organized, friendly, and non-intimidating teaching style has been well received for years by students of all levels.
Meet Yuki
Yuki Hall is an award-winning watercolor artist known for her loose style and spontaneous approach to working with the medium. Yuki holds a signature membership to Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Ohio Watercolor Society and Whiskey Painters of America. Her work has been accepted into prestigious national & international level watercolor juried competitions including the National Watercolor Society Annual Member’s Exhibition, 2018, National Juried Exhibition of Transparent Watercolor Society of America, 2014, 2017 & 2019, and the Watercolor West International Juried Exhibition in 2014, where she won the Founders Award. Her works have been featured in highly competitive national art/watercolor publications: Watercolor Artist Magazine, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020 and 2021; The Best of Watercolor “Splash 14”, “Splash 20”, "Splash 21” and “Splash 22”, 2015 ~ 2021 by North Light Books and Golden Peak Media Fine Art Group.
Yuki is also an avid teacher. She teaches workshops at various locations in the US as well as in Europe.
