Winter Hayfields by Donlyn K Meyers

I hate flowers – I paint them because they’re cheaper than models and they don’t move!

A Strategy for Drawing People

Jes Ludwick   Charcoal on Paper by Andrea Clarkson

"Charcoal is a great way to make a clear, simple statement about what I see before me. To help me make decisions I do thumbnail sketches which answer questions like, “What is the grouping of light and dark?” I use constructive drawing, focusing on planes and symmetry, to emphasize the form in space. The crown of light on the hair is a tool that can be used to describe the roundness of the form." ... Andrea Clarkson

The Hyter Portrait Group is a great opportunity to work from a live model. The group meets at Common Space One  on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5 per session. Check out the group’s Facebook page for more information.
